Don't Get it Twisted!

Matthew 28:18-20 And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age. ____________________________________________________________________ This passage has been used as marching orders for evangelism for all of church history.  Yet  . . . I feel,  many get it twisted.  If you feel that you have done your part because you have merely invited someone to church, or even led them to accept Christ, you have stopped short of what Christ has asked you to do.   Let me explain! The word "make" in Greek , when Christ says  to “make disciples” is mathēteuō. This comes from the root mathētēs, meaning “learner” or “pupil.” This is why Christ does not simply say "share the Gospel".  We

WHERE IS YOUR HEART?

Matthew 6:19-21 19 "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. _____________________________________________________________ We live in a time and society that has all of us planning, working, toiling and pressing forward each day.  Every moment of our time and efforts press us towards goals and a future we carefully attempt to plan for.  Some of  us are so engulfed and focused on these plans and the temporal benefits of the perceived outcomes our plans will achieve. However, as christians our existence is more than the time we have in this world. We must make an investment into eternity.   "HOW DO WE DO THIS?" you may ask!   We must shift our thoughts and priorities to the on

Never Lose You!

Mark 8:36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? _____________________________________________________ The world would have you believe that it has all of the answers.   The world will tell you that what you see, hear, feel, touch and smell is all that is real and worth living for.   But you may not know or understand that living for the rewards of this world come at a cost.   The world’s influence, when used as the blueprint for living, takes your heart and shapes it to its will leaving you an empty shell of who you really are. Nothing in this world is worth changing who you are in Christ.   There is no middle ground in the issue.   Yes, we are all a work in progress and live in this world, but who we are is not dictated by anything or anyone in this world.   Who you are is worth more than whatever this world has to offer.   Do not chase the image the world is selling you.   Unless you live life fully expressing what Go

TIME!

James 4:14   Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. __________________________________________________________ Our plans and plots are events that we try to cram into the short time we have on this earth.   The term YOLO is very true.   We only have one life, and one short chance to live and make a difference in this world.   When we make plans for our lives we are, at best, looking at a very small slice of time.   Our time is like a seed.   A seed is small!  Yet it will leave a legacy that will be manifested in the tree and fruit that is produced.   The seed will die but what it leaves behind speaks to what was planted.   What have you decided to do with your time?   Strive to let your life edify God and leave a legacy of love via your life of expression.   Express the gift that God has given you through His son Jesus Christ in each moment of your life.   Never take one second

NO MATTER WHAT!

Jeremiah 17:7-8 But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit." ______________________________________________ Watching the news and living in a world that seems to have given way to fits of pandemonium it seems as if hope is in short supply.   Each week we get reports of shootings, world hunger, sickness and corruption.   How can anyone be truly blessed when the world is going down.   Like a neighborhood that once was the cream of the Crop that has begun to be run down, our world needs a revival and rejuvenation.   This time and moment are the birth pains that will give way for that revival.   No matter what the world news is reporting! No matter what you hear or see! No matter what tools Satan employs: We must never lose

GET THE DOOR!

Revelation 3:20 "Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends. ______________________________________________________________ The world is asking: Where is God?   In all the mess we see going on in the world one could be tempted to believe that God is absent.   Yet the world forgets that slowly overtime it has shunned God and asked Him to leave.   No prayer in schools, and removing His commandments from every corner of the foundations of our society in the name of political correctness.   The saying “you don’t know what you have until it is gone” is so true.   If God were to completely take His hand off of creation the universe would dissolve and even the structure that drives complete chaos would unravel.   Yet as we push ever closer to the brink of self-annihilation, Jesus is knocking at the door. Many Christians look at the news and the events of the world and worry, and

BACK TO EGYPT

Acts 7:33-34 33  “Then the Lord said to him, ‘Take off your sandals, for you are standing on holy ground. 34  I have certainly seen the oppression of my people in Egypt. I have heard their groans and have come down to rescue them. Now go, for I am sending you back to Egypt. _____________________________________________________________________ In God’s presence we may be called to serve in many ways.   Like Moses we may be called to go back to the place from where we once ran.   The place that once drove you into hiding will become a testimony that God calls you to face for His Glory.   If we are only praying for our daily bread and missing to ask God for His will to be done we are missing the point of surviving the past tribulations.   We are delivered and made whole in order to help others do the same. One day we all may be called to go back to Egypt.   We must draw near to God and make ourselves ready to go where God calls.   We must remember that we are not the only
