Be Afraid? Be Very Afraid?

Moses answered the people, "Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again." (Exodus 14:13)

Fear VS Faith!! Which one will win in your life?

There are many stories and verses in the bible that tell us not to be fearful. I love this one in Exodus because most of us can really relate to it. The children of Israel had their backs to the wall, or should we say the "water" . They could only see fear. They saw their sudden death approach them in the form of their past master, Pharaoh, and his army approaching.

So many of us are in the same place. Our past is on our heels and desiring us to fall back into the deadly spiral we have just recently escaped from. We are afraid of the uncertainty the future in front of us holds.  We have hopes and dreams but the sound of the approaching past drowns out our hope and stirs up our fears.  We think:

"What if it doesn't work out"
"What if I am doing the wrong thing"
"What if I get lost"

These are all valid questions that we should look to the Word of GOD to answer. However instead of looking in GOD's word we focus on our past. The past that is riddled with the failures of the endeavors that were fueled by our own strength and will.  We fear and worry based on a past that didn't have GOD's guidance or blessing.  In this case our fear, just like the Israelites, is a very valid fear.  Without GOD we should expect to fail at everything, and fear everything.  For it is HE who allows our hearts to beat successfully  without us even thinking. All the "little" successes we take for granted, (i.e. waking up, breathing, heart beats,... Etc) can be the norm for our life's goals.  Just as we have a built up faith in the chair that holds us up at the dinner table, we need to develop faith in GOD.

In our fear we find it hard to remain still. Like a mouse that struggles in the grip of a python we struggle to find a way , any way, out of the direction of our fears. We place ourselves in the grip of fear when we loose faith. The key to reverse this is found in the words of Moses:

"Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again."

GOD's Word says "Stand Firm!!!" . . In other words stop moving... Stop squirming and stop trying fix this while you are intoxicated with worry and fear. . . If we would only read and believe (actually and not aspirationally) what the word of GOD says to us, then we would work in faith and not worry in fear!  When you move towards a goal while in a state of worry you will fail. Worry is not of GOD.  GOD cannot worry because he is always in control.  When you move towards a goal while in a state of faith you will succeed. When you breath in you have faith that there is air to fill your lungs and therefore you do not panic. However someone who is hyperventilating is convinced that there is not enough air around them to fill their lungs. They are fighting for each breath in a state of panic and worry.  But in reality there is enough air for them and everyone standing around them trying to calm them down enough to regulate their breathing.

Some of us are living in a state of spiritual hyperventilation.  We are grasping at everything and everyone's else's opinion  because we are having trouble having faith in what GOD's word says. GOD's word is the same yesterday, today, and will be the same tomorrow. Stand still and look to GOD's word and His promises in faith and the problems of your past will never have the same hold on you again. You will never see them again! GOD can and will remove that fear and replace it with faith!

Be encouraged!

I love you always and in all ways.

COMFORT IN THE VALLEY!

Isaiah 40:30-31 New King James Version (NKJV) 30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, 31 But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint. In the short time that you have in this world you can expect to be tested. You should look for it and know that you will have valleys and mountain tops along the path that you walk as a Christian. It may seem that the path gets more and more narrow. It may seem that you come across another path that seems to lead you to easier terrain and a location with “greener grass”. Do not be fooled or discouraged. With each season of testing GOD allows you to experience, there will be a season of recovery and spiritual growth. When you are in your valley you can rest in the fact that you will have to go up a hill to reach the mountain top. And the higher the mountain top the l...

RETURN!

Luke 15:20 20 And he arose and came to his father. But while he was yet at a distance, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him. ________________________________________________   Some of us have struggled for so long with issues and the trappings of life that we have a desire to change, and break free, but we don’t know where to start.   We are also afraid of what it really means to be free from the struggle that has accompanied us for so long in our lives. . . We ask and say: “Well, Lord If I break free from, (adultery, obesity, smoking, lusting, alcohol, sex) what will I have to fight next? What will I have to focus on next?   I don’t know what freedom really feels like and that scares me!” These feelings are normal and truth be told, these feelings are some of the reasons we have relapsed back into our familiar activities.   However GOD has always been watching you.   Even before you accepted Chri...

Be Encouraged!!

Ready or Not: Here Life Comes Isaiah 41:10 fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. I am starting this blog in response to the excuses I have had as to why I am not doing more for the kingdom of GOD. I have been in the USAF for 7 years and have been a studying to become a Chaplain and pastor for the past 7 years. I have been called into ministry for the past 17 years.. I have had a strong pulling in my soul to serve in full time ministry and have let myself put up blocks in my mind because of my commitment to my country as a military member. This showes a weakness in my heart and mind. I realize that just because I am not a full time Pastor or in "fulltime ministry" does not mean I do not have the opportunity to minister on a daily basis. Realize that no matter where you go or what you do there are opportunities to share GOD's word and work for him. ...
