WHY WORRY?

Matthew 6:25-27 25Therefore I say to you, Take no thought for your life, what you shall eat, or what you shall drink; nor yet for your body, what you shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? 26Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much better than they? 27Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit to his stature? _______________________________________________________ In life we plan, worry and chase what the American constitution calls “happiness”.   We dream and pursue positions, places and things.   In our Christian lives God should be giving us the dreams and plans that, when we depend on and grow in Him, become the desire of our hearts.   Yet even in His presence,(at least for me), we worry about the how’s and whens of the plan and goals that are before us.   We wonder and become anxious to the point of grief when we cannot see th

YOUR'RE MISSING IT!!

Isaiah 43:18-19 18  “Forget the former things;      do not dwell on the past. 19  See, I am doing a new thing!      Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness      and streams in the wasteland. ______________________________________________________________ What have you been through?   What chapters in your past still plague your thoughts? We all do it! We focus and recall the painful and uncomfortable moments.   We recall the pain and forget the lesson.   We forget the entry God has placed in His resume for our lives.   We let our past blind us from seeing the new things God is doing and has done.   Our past is not our reality.   God can and will show up and turn any situation around.   The question is:   will you even notice?   Will you miss what God is doing?   I pray not.   I pray that you leave the pain of the past where it belongs.   Look to God and focus on what He is doing fresh and new in your life.   Be encouraged an

WORD LIFE OR WORLD LIFE!

Philippians 2:14-15 14 Do everything without complaining and arguing, 15 so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people. _________________________________________ Look around and tell me what you see.   This world is not the place God created it to be.   It is flawed and full of flawed people (myself included).   All around us we see the manifestation and shrapnel left behind from the bombshell sin dropped on all of creation.   As God picks up the pieces we can see a glimpse of the perfection He intended for us to experience.     Our flesh wars against the new spirit God has placed into us.   We have to fight each moment to align ourselves with the nature of Christ.   We have to beat our flesh back daily.   Why? Because this fallen world is looking for a lighted path back to the place of God’s design.   Even though the world is crooked and perverse it still longs

LAW OF LOVE

Galatians 5:13-14   13  You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. 14  For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” _________________________________________________________________   Today I want each of you to look at your life!   Let your life answer the following question:   Do I serve myself, or God?   Remember GOD is love and by serving him fully you fulfill the law of love as expressed by Christ.   If you are serving yourself then there is no room for the law of love.   In essence, when we serve ourselves, we have replaced God’s will with our own. Service of others is the life and example that Christ has given.   True worship is more than what you say, sing, and shout in church.   True worship is a relationship with God that leads to a life of love expressed to those who are our neighbors.   Remember we ar

LET FREEDOM RING!

LUKE 13:10-13 10 On a Sabbath Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues, 11 and a woman was there who had been crippled by a spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not straighten up at all. 12 When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her, “Woman, you are set free from your infirmity.” 13 Then he put his hands on her, and immediately she straightened up and praised God. ___________________________________________________ This past Sunday I was reminded of this scripture when my father gave a sermon concerning the “woman with the infirmity”.   I saw myself in this woman.   I saw all of us in this woman. The chains of our past lives and the consequences of sin in the world have ravaged us all.   Some of us are clinching our past so tightly that there is no room for our future. Some of us have forgotten, or act like we have forgotten, that God is able.   We have been going through the motions and doing what “we” think we should.   However it is n
