ANSWER ME WHEN I'M TALKING TO YOU!!!


2 Thessalonians 1:11-12

To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by his power, so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ. 


Open your ears because GOD is calling.


I know that everyone who is reading has probably heard this before from a person of authority in their lives. Traditionally it is a parent who speaks to a teenager who thinks they know everything. I know it was said to me when I chose to be difficult. And in the end I gave an answer.


So I'm thinking to myself why did it take me so long to answer GOD. After all the plans he has put in place for me. After the love and preparation he is placing into my life. I was still not answering the call for my life. I am still being prepared for a work of GOD's design. I am not talking about my future appointment to full time ministry. Rather I am speaking about the things GOD calls me to do on an daily basis. Most importantly "Love your enemies".


Does this conversation sound familiar?


GOD: Love our enemies.  

Us: DID I HEAR YOU RIGHT? " YOUR ENEMIES"? What?!?!?!? " You mean that I have to LOVE the one who lies on me, the one who cheats on me, the one who hates me?" That is too hard!?!? Lord you don't understand!!

GOD: Don't I?

Us: But that's different ,. . . You are GOD, and you are perfect.

GOD: Yet I died for you. Yet I forgave you. Yet while you were in sin I loved you. You know how much I cannot stand sin. Yet here you are one of my chosen. 

Us: But Lord I am doing everything else you want me to do. I am!!!

GOD: But you are not answering my call! I have called you to love! And I am waiting on your answer.


This conversation plays out over and over again In in a society that stands and promotes the opposite to this call. We struggle more and more to answer this basic call. The work and image of GOD is rooted in love. For GOD is love. In loving our enemies we reflect the image and character of GOD. You can have all the faith in the world, but faith without works is dead. If you are like me and want to answer GOD's call start with the heart.

LOVE. . . EVEN WHEN IT HURTS!

John 4:7-8 7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.  _____________________________ It sounds so easy! “Love one another”! But it is a task that takes practice and the Holy Spirit working within us to accomplish.   IT is easy to love a friend or a family member. Those who are good to us make it easy. But what about our enemies? How can we love them?   This verse does not exclude our enemies.   Those who push our buttons need our love the most.   Those who we must pray for daily need to see Christ in each one of us.   And please remember to others we are that person that needs prayer as well. WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?
